2024 Outstanding Graduate Woman in Learning Award

We are excited to announce that applications for Women in Learning’s Outstanding Graduate Woman in Learning Award are now being accepted!

Description:

The Outstanding Graduate Woman in Learning Award will honor one woman graduate student during the annual meeting of the Pavlovian Society (in Indianapolis, IN from September 26, 2024 through September 28, 2024) who has completed at least one year of graduate studies and made significant contributions to the field of learning theory, neuroscience, or psychology.

Entry Instructions:
Please submit a current CV and a letter of recommendation from your graduate research advisor to womeninlearning@gmail.com no later than Friday, September 6th, 2024 at 11:59 PM CT. An entry may be made personally by the graduate student or by the graduate student’s research advisor. Entries submitted in any manner other than emailing the above address will not be considered. A panel of judges from Women in Learning will review the entries and select an awardee.

The awardee will be announced during the annual Women in Learning luncheon on Saturday, September 28th.

Prize:

The awardee will be granted a pre-paid registration for the 2025 Pavlovian Society annual meeting.

By applying to the 2024 Outstanding Graduate Woman in Learning Award, you agree to accept all terms and conditions.

(i) The following Eligibility Criteria must be met:

  • At the time of the application deadline of 9/6/2024, the applicant must have completed at least ONE year of graduate studies relating to the field of learning theory, neuroscience, or psychology and must still be actively enrolled in such a graduate program within North America (U.S. and Canada).

  • At the time of the application deadline of 9/6/2024, the applicant’s degree must not be conferred. An applicant that defended a doctoral dissertation but has not yet formally graduated is still eligible.

  • The applicant must identify as a woman.

  • The applicant must have made significant contributions to the learning theory, neuroscience, or psychology fields, through written articles, presentations, conference attendance, and the like.

  • The applicant must submit a CV and letter of recommendation from the applicant’s own graduate research advisor to womeninlearning@gmail.com by 9/6/2024 at 11:59 PM CT. Entries may be submitted by the applicant directly or by the applicant’s research advisor. Entries submitted in any manner other than emailing the above address will not be considered. Only one entry per applicant should be submitted.

(ii) The awardee will be chosen by a panel of judges from Women in Learning and notified on 9/28/2024 at the Luncheon.  The awardee will be publicly honored at the Women in Learning luncheon [Loughmiller’s Pub, Indianapolis, IN]. The prize is a pre-paid Pavlovian Society’s annual meeting registration for 2025 at the graduate student pricing level. If the awardee confers her degree between the application deadline and the 2025 Pavlovian Society annual meeting, the prize will be a pre-paid Pavlovian Society annual meeting registration for 2025 at the at the post-doctoral pricing level. An applicant must indicate in the application an intent to confer the degree during this period to be eligible for pre-payment at post-doctoral pricing. The prize is nontransferable, it may not be exchanged for cash or any other type of monetary payment, and it may not be deferred to a later Pavlovian Society meeting or substituted for another conference. The prize is a one-time award and may not be split up in any way. The prize does not cover travel, hotel, or any other expenses other than the applicable registration fee. The awardee must be present at the 2024 Women in Learning luncheon to accept the prize.  If the awardee cannot attend the 2024 Women in Learning luncheon, Women in Learning will, in its sole discretion, determine whether to still grant the prize to the awardee or to select another awardee. If the awardee chooses not to attend the Pavlovian Society’s annual meeting in 2025, then the awardee will forfeit the prize. The prize will be issued after announcement of the Pavlovian Society’s annual meeting 2025 open registration, only after email confirmation (prompted by Women in Learning) that the awardee will be in attendance of the annual meeting. If the awardee does not respond within seven (7) days of Women in Learning’s prompt, the awardee forfeits the prize.
